The deep freeze is over!!!

Calgary finally warmed up to above zero temperatures yesterday.  We had been in the -30 to -45 range since last Wednesday.  The car started every morning, but it sure was cold running from the car to where you were going.

Jennifer & Ryley went on a quick, unplanned trip to Nova Scotia last Wednesday to visit Jennifer's ailing Grammy.  They got back last night, so you can tell it was a really quick trip.  Jennifer got in 2 really good visits before her Grammy condition deteriorated.  It looks like it will only be a matter of time now.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

While they were in Nova Scotia they got to help celebrate Nanny & Grampy's 35th wedding anniversary and Grampy's 56th birthday.

Jennifer & Ryley left Nova Scotia in one of the worse snow storms of the year.  It took about an hour and a half to get to the airport in the only 4x4 truck they could find - Thanks Uncle Brian.  There were numerous cars in the ditch, but the roads were otherwise deserted.  The flight left on time and after a quick transfer in Hamilton got into Calgary on time.  Jennifer has decided that West Jet is a far superior airline to the other major carrier in Canada.

Ron was stuck in the deep freeze living like a bachelor.  On Thursday evening he volunteered at the Canada for Asia telethon taking calls.  The calls came from all over the country, for all amounts of money.  In a strange coincidence he took a call from Aunt Marlene's boss in Lethbridge.  Ron recognized the e-mail address and asked if he knew Marlene.  What a small world.  It was great to work with the telethon and get to talk to people all over the country while supporting such a worthwhile cause.
